Maryam Mirzakhani Scholarship Fund
In honour of the late award-winning Stanford mathematician, Maryam Mirzakhani (May 1977-July 2017), Persia Educational Foundation has established the Persia Mirzakhani Scholarship for Women. Professor Mirzakhani was the first woman to win the prestigious Fields Medal in mathematics.
The scholarship is designed to support the education of Iranian descent women of any age or citizenship enrolled in a Master of Science or final year of a Doctorate programme studying STEM at the prestigious University College London.
The scholarship will be a total of GBP 1500. Eligible applicants will be encouraged to submit their application for the 2025-2026 academic year to Persia Educational Foundation by 5:00 pm GMT on Monday, 21 April 2025. Following review and consultation, the scholarship results will be announced on Friday, 9 May 2025.
All documents must be submitted in PDF format, along with a cover letter, through email before 5:00 pm GMT on Monday, 21 April 2025, to Persia Mirzakhani Scholarship Selection Committee at: info@persia.education
Requirements and Eligibility:
- Submit a complete copy of the application
- Be enrolled in a STEM programme at UCL
- Be of Iranian descent
- Possess and maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher
- Demonstrate a commitment to community service
- Submit two letters of recommendation, one from a previous professor and one from an organisation where you have performed community service, demonstrating academic excellence and financial need

In addition to those interested in supporting Iranian descent students in the UK, scholarship awardees are also highly encouraged to contribute to this Fund following their successful graduation and securing employment.

However, following the selection of the scholarship recipient, all information pertaining to applications is securely destroyed and it is decided that this and accompanying documents will not be further processed.
